In Borodyanka, Russian soldiers shot people who tried to help their neighbors

In Borodyanka, Kiev region, Russian soldiers shot people who were trying to help their neighbors who were under the rubble. “They didn’t care that no one opened fire on them,” Georgierko of the local administration said.

Borodyanka, a city in the Kiev region with a population of several thousand, was recaptured by Ukrainian forces from Russian forces five days ago.

As Georgy Yerko, head of the Borodyansk City Council, told the Obozrevatel portal, the Russians shot residents and fired at residential buildings. “Ignoring the fact that no one opened fire on them,” Jerko added.

At first, the residents tried to leave the city in their own cars, but were fired upon from machine guns. Then the first eight people died.

“They fired heavy weapons”

Later, Russian soldiers fired at people not only with machine guns, but also with heavy weapons. The city was also bombarded.

– Our city was subjected to the first air strike. Bombs were dropped on eight-story buildings. And those who were in the cellars were buried alive. We tried to dig them out right away. An anti-aircraft alert was issued. Later, columns, tanks, armored personnel carriers came again – and they fired at people trying to get to the wounded. We turned to them in writing – the excavations were not given, – he said.

Destroyed infrastructure

It is not known how many people were buried under the rubble of buildings. So far, no bodies have been found. Many buildings are mined and the infrastructure is destroyed. Professionals are looking for buildings that can still be renovated. The area is being cleared.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published a photo dated April 5 from Borodyanka after it was taken from the hands of the invaders:
