Zelensky: we are still ready for negotiations with Russia

Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is still ready for further negotiations with Moscow and is looking for ways to end the war. The Ukrainian President stated this at a press conference after a meeting with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer. “We are ready to fight and at the same time strive to end this war through diplomacy,” the President of Ukraine said.

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer visited Kiev. Volodymyr Zelensky said that, unfortunately, one can observe how the Russians are preparing for an offensive in the east. – In the east and south, we see a grouping of troops and equipment, – said the Ukrainian president.

Mariupol has been under siege for several weeks now.

He pointed out that the success of the Russian offensive would depend on many factors, including how long Mariupol held out under siege and how quickly Western partners handed over their weapons to Ukraine.

“Mariupol has been besieged by Russian troops numbering about 10,000 people for several weeks already, in case of their capitulation, these soldiers will be transferred for further offensive to the east,” the President of Ukraine said.

The last round of Ukrainian-Russian negotiations took place on March 29. Then Zelensky said that the signals emanating from the negotiations with Russia can be considered positive. However, as he emphasized, these signals “do not drown out the explosions of Russian missiles.”

Visit to Bucha

The program of the visit of the Austrian chancellor, in addition to meeting with the Ukrainian and Kiev authorities, also includes a trip to Bucha, where the bodies of more than 300 civilians brutally murdered by the Russian army were found.

On February 24, on the orders of Vladimir Putin, the troops of the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine. Russian forces are bombing critical infrastructure and residential areas. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk said that today 10 humanitarian corridors have been agreed with Russia. They cover areas occupied by Russian troops.
