In Thailand, a tourist sued a massage parlor for molestation and won a counterclaim

The scandal with allegations of corruption in Chiang Mai is broadcast by the local Thai press. The situation is as follows – a tourist sued a massage parlor for sexual harassment. The trial was held, and the tourist even seemed to go to a settlement for a certain amount of the fine – however, the scandal took a new turn. Now the accused transgender massage therapist, together with the owner of the establishment, filed a complaint against the client, accusing him of distorting the real events and causing damage to the business’s reputation.

The scandal began on July 7, when a tourist published an outraged post about being sexually assaulted by a transgender masseuse during a traditional Thai massage. At the same time, the client himself, according to his report, took offense and kicked the masseuse in the face in response. The owner of the massage parlor refused to take responsibility, instead advising the applicant to inform the police, the outraged victim added.

He did, but, according to the media, “there were no CCTV cameras in the massage parlor to provide concrete evidence.” At the same time, the victim demanded 1,000 baht in damages — and, covering all this in detail on social networks, attracted considerable public attention.

Next, the second hero of the scene – 38-year-old masseuse Piphat and the owner of a spa salon – appeared. Piphat denied the accusation of depravity, explaining that the client came for an oil massage and his girlfriend was waiting behind the curtain. About 30 minutes into the session, the customer suddenly attacked Piphat, accusing him of inappropriate behavior and demanding 1,000 baht in compensation. Piphat and the owner of the salon refused to compensate for the damage, as they were convinced that there were no offenses on their part. As a result, the parties met at the police station for negotiations, no evidence was given according to the Thai media – but the parties agreed to settle the assault with 1,000 baht compensation and an apology.

However, the tourist continued to spread distorted information on social networks, which was contrary to the agreement, according to media reports. So, after some time, the massage therapist and the owner of the salon contacted the Chiang Mai police. They filed a complaint against the tourist, claiming that he was distorting the truth on social media, which led to losses and damage to their reputation. At the same time, the police also suggested that they be charged with causing physical damage.
