Gifts for all tourists and locals: Istanbul celebrates the anniversary of the conquest of the city

Travel on Istanbul’s public transport is free today on the anniversary of the Ottoman Turks’ conquest of the city, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said.

Today, residents and guests of Istanbul can travel for free on the metro, subway, ferries, buses, trams, and the Marmaray line (a transport facility with a railway branch for passenger and freight trains, including a tunnel at a depth of 60 meters under the Bosphorus).

Today, May 29, marks the 569th anniversary of the city’s conquest.
