Macron has developed a plan to protect Ukrainian nuclear power plants

France will soon propose concrete actions for the safety and preservation of five major nuclear power plants in Ukraine, said in the office of French President Emmanuel Macron, according to the Associated Press.

Their defense will be based on the criteria of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the statement said.

On the night before Friday, a Russian attack on a nuclear power plant caused a fire and briefly frightened the world because of the danger of disaster, recalls the Associated Press.

In a statement, President Macron said he was “extremely concerned about the risks posed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for nuclear safety, protection and the implementation of international guarantees.”

Macron said “Russia must immediately stop its illegal and dangerous hostilities” and allow the Ukrainian authorities to exercise full control over all nuclear facilities within Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders.

He called on Russia to “ensure that officials have free, regular and unhindered access to the facilities to ensure their continuous and safe operation.”
