Police are searching for a 22-year-old resident of Zugdidi, who, according to preliminary data, was abducted for the purpose of marriage.
The girl disappeared the day before, on August 2. Details of the event are being clarified.
According to Rustavi 2 TV, before her disappearance, the girl wrote a letter to her relatives stating that she agreed to the marriage. However, the girl’s family believes that she wrote a letter under duress.
The case of the bride’s abduction took place the day before in Mtskheta municipality. Four people were detained on charges of kidnapping the girl.
The maximum penalty for such a crime is imprisonment for a term of two to four years.
