Australia lifts ban on entry and parking of cruise ships

The Australian authorities have lifted the ban on entry and parking of cruise ships in the ports of the country. This was announced by the Australian Association of Cruise Line Operators.

P&O’s first Australian Pacific Explorer cruise ship in more than two years docked in Sydney today, April 18. The ship is expected to sail on May 31 with nearly 2,000 passengers and 1,000 crew members on board. The liner on the route will call at Brisbane (Queensland, Australia) and Moreton Island, after which it will go to the Great Barrier Reef.

P&O’s cruises to Fiji, Tonga and Vanuatu will begin on August 8, with routes to New Zealand and Papua New Guinea returning to the schedule by the end of the year.

According to the publication, by the end of April, almost all Australian cruise ship operators, flying to Darwin and Broome from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, will resume work. Tasmania will open later for cruise ships.

Recall that the ban on the entry and parking of cruise ships in the ports of Australia was introduced in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
