US imposes new sanctions on Aeroflot, AZUR air and Utair

The US Department of Commerce has imposed export sanctions on three Russian airlines: Aeroflot, AZUR air and Utair. This is stated in the message, which was distributed by the press service of the department on Thursday.

According to the text of the document, carriers continue to fly both in Russia and abroad on Boeing aircraft, which were previously subject to sanctions, without permission from the Bureau of Industry and Security of the US Department of Commerce. In this regard, the ministry decided to refuse to grant export privileges to airlines.

In particular, Aeroflot, AZUR air and Utair are deprived of the right to participate in transactions subject to export regulations, including export and re-export from the United States. “The term of decisions is 180 days and can be extended,” the ministry said.

In fact, the new sanctions deprive airlines of access to buying spare parts for Boeing aircraft, even through intermediaries. At the same time, previous sanctions have already limited the possibility of maintenance, repair and refueling of Russian carriers at foreign airports.
