Turkish Airlines has limited the ability to sell tickets from Turkey to other countries to Russian agents

The Russian partners of Turkish Airlines received a mailing from which it follows that the Turkish airline has temporarily restricted their ability to sell air tickets on their flights from Turkey to third countries. As reported in the text, from March 10, the registration of transportation is possible only on routes that include points on the territory of Russia.

In other words, tickets for flights from Moscow or St. Petersburg to Istanbul and further to the Maldives or in the opposite direction can still be bought; but a separate segment – from Istanbul to New York, Madrid or the same Maldives – is no longer possible.

The carrier did not explain its decision. According to one version, the airline is trying to reduce currency risks: due to the instability of the ruble, there were situations when the internal IATA exchange rate for paying for tickets did not keep up with the real one. As a result, sales were conducted on unfavorable terms.

As experts explain, other large foreign carriers that continue flying to Russia are now forced to follow the path of restrictions.
