Turkey removes almost all mask restrictions for tourists, but there are exceptions

The Turkish authorities have decided to cancel the mask regime in all public places of the republic, with the exception of hospitals. This was announced by the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca.

According to him, within 3 days in the country, the number of newly detected COVID-19 infections was less than a thousand cases per day. Such indicators make it possible to remove almost all mask restrictions, including on public transport. The only exception is medical facilities, where personal protection requirements remain in place.

“However, in the light of the experience in public transport and crowded places, it is better to have respirators and gloves with you,” the head of the Ministry of Health explained.

Against the background of this statement, the CEO of the Turkish flagship of Turkish Airlines, Bilal Ekshi, also said that passengers no longer need masks on domestic flights of the airline. As for international routes, the requirements will depend solely on the rules of the country of arrival or departure.

It should be noted that Turkey gradually began to lift covid restrictions back in March. As the Ministry of Health pointed out, the main incentive to cancel all coronavirus limits is to reduce the number of new COVID-19 infections. On Sunday, only 864 such cases were recorded.
