The window to Europe for Russian tourists is closing

The EU continues to impose measures on Russia – this time they will affect air traffic. According to the spokesman of the Polish government Peter Mueller, the country is closing the airspace for Russian carriers. The measure will take effect on Saturday local time (02:00 Kyiv time). The Czech Republic also joined this anti-Russian alliance.

“Relevant norms are being developed immediately,” he said. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also instructed the government to prepare a resolution to close the country’s airspace to Russian airlines.

According to preliminary data, the Czech Republic also plans to join Poland. As a result, Russian planes will have to pass this “serious obstacle” by flying over these countries either through the air corridor over the Baltic from the north – or through the Black Sea and the Balkans, which will extend the road.

Another problem for the Russian aviation industry was announced from Austria. Following a meeting of the Austrian Security Council over Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said that the European Union had agreed on the largest-ever package of sanctions against Russia, affecting the transport, aviation and space industries. In particular, they were told that EU sanctions would affect the supply of spare parts for aircraft to Russia.

A little later it became known that the airline S7 canceled all its flights to Europe from February 26 to March 13.
