As the newspaper De Telegraaf writes, the Netherlands prevents Bulgaria from joining the Schengen zone.
The authorities of the Netherlands named several conditions that, in their opinion, Bulgaria still does not satisfy. At the same time, the Netherlands is not against the admission of Romania and Croatia to the Schengen.
Earlier, the European Commission called on the EU Council to approve the decision on the admission of Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia to the Schengen area. According to the European Commissioners, these countries have fulfilled all the conditions for joining the visa-free zone.
Austria has previously stated that it will not support Bulgaria and Romania joining the Schengen area. The candidacy of Croatia among the Schengen member countries does not cause disputes.
