Very soon, the Christmas season will start in Europe, which pleases residents and tourists with bright fairs with festive decorations, garlands, and aromatic hot drinks. However, a Christmas trip to Europe is often not the cheapest treat, especially on popular destinations.
Post Office Money compared 13 popular cities in Europe to identify the best budget Christmas destinations on the continent for the 2023/2024 winter season. As a result, the capital of Latvia, Riga, topped the rating, writes The Sun.
So, according to the company’s report, two nights in Riga and direct flights there and back (flights from the UK were taken into account, but in general the picture is about the same for flights in Europe – ed.) cost an average of 350 euros for two. Overall, the report analyzed the prices of accommodation and travel (including travel to the airport from the city), as well as five-holiday essentials, including a three-course meal, mulled wine, and festive pastries, all of which would cost an average of €580.
At the same time, quite unexpectedly, the Swedish capital Stockholm, which is traditionally considered a very expensive city, came in second place – about 640 euros for a weekend for two.
Zagreb (Croatia), Prague (Czech Republic), and Tallinn (Estonia) are next on the list.
Well, for the cheapest mulled wine, tourists are offered to go to the Polish city of Krakow – four glasses of mulled wine here will cost about 10 euros.
At the same time, the authors of the report recognized the Austrian capital Vienna as the most expensive of the analyzed Christmas destinations, followed by the Danish capital Copenhagen – a trip with two nights for two to these cities will cost more than 1,000 euros on average.
As DIP reported, earlier the travel company Planet Cruise presented a list of the 10 best Christmas markets in the world.
