Get out of Antalya: a campaign against invading Russians has begun in the resort capital of Turkey

Get out of Antalya: a petition against “relocators”, mainly from Russia, was launched on the website change.org by residents of Antalya. Thus, a campaign against foreigners began in the resort capital of Turkey. The reason, primarily, is caused by the flow of “relocates”, the doubling of real estate prices, and the astronomical increase in rent.

“The average rent in Antalya exceeds 10,000 liras and 13,000 liras in Alanya (about 20,000 UAH and 25,000 UAH, respectively). Rents for housing in Antalya have increased by 395% over the past two years. Life in the city has become impossible for many people, especially for students,” the authors of the petition said. More than 13,500 people have already joined it.

As a separate item, the authors of the petition complained that 25% of the resort’s population is already made up of foreigners. And the most important thing is that the number of Russians who earn illegally by working in real estate rental has already reached at least 10,000. “These people continue to upset the real estate market with their groups on WhatsApp and other social networks,” Turkish sources say. It is in these groups that the rent is increased two or three times, the Turks assure. “People are looking to sell or rent their homework with these people, not local estate agents. Of course, this affects the entire market. As a result, they push citizens of the country out of the market: it is practically impossible for a Turkish citizen to rent or buy a house at the prices set by foreign real estate agents,” the authors of the petition said.

The answer to what to do is also quite simple. “Stop renting and selling housing to foreigners. Let them stay as guests in our hotels, hostels, or boarding houses,” they say.

Russian “eloquent”, whose opinions were asked by the Turkish media, habitually press for pity and their usefulness for Turkey. A certain 40-year-old Angelika, ex-owner of a furniture store in Moscow, says the following: “It’s a little sad that they don’t wait for us here when we can’t return to our country. We didn’t come here for entertainment – we had to leave our homes and our lives. I believe that foreigners who come here can make a great contribution to the development of Antalya.” At the same time, a renter pays 16,000 lines per month for an apartment, while a few months ago, the rent of the same apartment cost 5-6 thousand liras on the market.

The authors of the petition, however, respond to this that “presenting the arrival of foreigners as economic revitalization is nothing but manipulation” the influx of resettlers “puts the economy in a difficult position.” So far, the government, in order to balance the distribution of foreigners, has closed 10 districts and quarters of Antalya to new foreign residences.
