An expert tells how to sleep on a plane and not suffer from jet lag

There are many nuances in organizing long air flights – you need to take care of food on the plane, drinks, and, of course, your sleep. Travel expert James Smith has named tips that will ease the effects of jet lag during long flights.

Not everyone can afford business-class air travel, which is why Smith outlined the key points to consider if you’re an economy-class passenger.

Smith advises, first of all, to adjust to the time zone of your destination. Try to sleep when night begins at your destination. And on an airplane, it is better to choose a seat by the window.

“Not only does it give you a wall to lean against, but it also eliminates obstructions if other passengers need to use the restroom. On the other hand, aisle seats can provide a little more legroom,” he said.

In addition, the expert advises taking care of comfortable clothes, preferably choosing products made from pleasant and breathable fabric. If the temperature in the cabin changes, it is also useful to have warm clothes. You should also consider supporting your neck – an ergonomic travel pillow can help; isolation from light and noise – take an eye mask and noise-canceling headphones or earplugs.

Cabin air can be quite dry, so it is important to drink water before and during your flight. At the same time, the expert advises avoiding caffeine and alcohol.

Smith also emphasizes that it is best to limit the amount of time you use gadgets during flights.

“While these tips can improve your chances of sleeping comfortably on a plane, everyone’s body reacts differently. It’s important to find what works best for you and create a personalized sleep routine for your flight.”
