The rainy season in Thailand continues to bring unpleasant surprises: 43 provinces, including resort ones, are already under the influence of “potential dangers during the downpour”. Tourists are urged to avoid hazards and be careful on land and at sea.
According to the Meteorological Department of Thailand, warnings have been issued in 43 provinces of Thailand, or 70% of the region due to continuous rains. Residents and tourists are urged to be cautious due to potential hazards during the downpour, including landslides and flash flooding.
According to meteorologists, Thailand has entered the zone of a “monsoon trough”, the continuous rains are being contributed by a trough of low pressure covering the coast of China and the southern part of the Andaman Sea, combined with the southwest monsoon. All this caused successive heavy rains across the country.
In some areas, especially near waterways and in the mountains, it is recommended to be alert due to the danger of heavy rain and accumulated precipitation that can lead to flash floods and runoff.
At sea, tourists are also advised to be cautious, with waves of 2 to 3 meters in the upper Andaman Sea, waves of more than 3 meters during storms, and waves of 1 to 2 meters in the lower Andaman Sea. and the upper reaches of the Gulf of Thailand. So caution is advised when going to the beach, heeding warning signs, and small excursion boats are being urged to stay in harbor — or at least take precautions and avoid storm-prone areas.
The downpours will continue for at least the next day — and it will affect 70% of the country. Thunderstorms are expected, for example, in Bangkok, and they will be accompanied by winds from 10 to 40 km/h. But despite the rains, Bangkok is also hot — 32-36°C.
