Russians may lose their property in Estonia

Russians who own real estate in Estonia may lose it if they cannot pay their bills due to the visa ban and refusal of banks to make payments.

This was stated by the Vice-Chancellor of the Estonian Interior Ministry Kommusaar. According to him, a person can lose his property if he does not find a way to pay for it. “We do not currently assume that Estonia should take any mitigating steps here,” he said.

Russians in Estonia own 41,350 properties, most of which have Estonian residence permits. At the same time, 4,500 of these Russian citizens need a visa to travel to Estonia.
