Lisbon imposes curfew, delta worsens situation with COVID in Portugal

In Portugal, the number of hospitalized with COVID-19 continues to grow. Yesterday there were more than 700 people – the largest number since March, according to DPA.

Yesterday, the number of patients with COVID-19 in hospitals and intensive care units reached its highest level since February, 729 people were hospitalized.

For several weeks now, the number of infected people in Portugal (with a population of 10.3 million) has been growing. Yesterday, 1782 new cases and 8 deaths were registered.

The exacerbation of the epidemic situation is associated with the rapid spread of a more contagious version of the coronavirus Delta – 90 percent of new cases are already caused by them, according to DPA.

Ten hours ago, in the evening, a curfew was imposed in Portugal to limit the spread of the infection in the most affected areas, including the capital Lisbon. From 23:00 to 5:00 you leave the house only for a good reason.

The measure affected about 4 million people.
