The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson stated that there is a real possibility that the war in Ukraine will continue until the end of next year, BNR reports.
Johnson made the statement at a news conference in Delhi, where he is visiting. There, the British Prime Minister said that next week the British Embassy in Kiev will resume its work, and Britain will continue to provide active military assistance to Ukraine.
Boris Johnson said the West could not stand aside and watch Putin’s aggression. He praised British diplomats who remained in the region and announced that the embassy in Kyiv would resume work next week.
Although India does not sharply condemn Russia’s actions, Boris Johnson said that his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi made it clear that India wants peace and “the Russians have left Ukraine.”
The British Prime Minister also said that his country continues to send military equipment to the Ukrainian resistance.
The Ministry of Defense, meanwhile, has confirmed that it is sending Challenger 2 tanks to Poland in exchange for T-72 tanks that Poland will send to Ukraine. This is in addition to the British armored personnel carriers, which will be sent directly to Ukraine, as previously reported.
Defense Secretary Ben Wallace is expected to announce the details later.
Boris Johnson also said in India that the possibility of continuing the war until the end of next year is real, citing estimates of British intelligence.
Three days ago, British intelligence said the next phase of the invasion was likely to be a “war of attrition” and would last several months. It was then suggested that the numerical superiority of Russian troops was unlikely to be decisive against fierce Ukrainian resistance.
