Ukraine will receive grant assistance from Japan

On January 28, Ambassador Kurai took part in the signing ceremony of the grant agreement from Japan under the “Economic and Social Development Program”. The relevant notes were signed and exchanged by Ambassador Kurai and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba. The grant provides the Government of Japan for 200 million yen (about 1.82 million US dollars) for the purchase of medical equipment.

The medical equipment, namely the MRI machine, will be handed over to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in order to strengthen measures to combat the spread of infections and strengthen the health care and medical system in Ukraine.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Kurai expressed the hope that the MRI machine will help provide the best possible treatment not only for patients infected with COVID-19, but also for border guards working around the clock to fight COVID-19 and other citizens of Ukraine, by accurately identifying other possible diseases. . The Ambassador also noted that Japan will continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary assistance.

Minister Kuleba expressed his sincere gratitude to Japan for its consistent support of Ukrainian reforms and measures to counter COVID-19.
