According to The Readers’ Choice Awards 2022, Cheval Blanc St-Tropez, located on the Cote d’Azur of France, was named the best hotel in the world. The full list of voting results is published on the website of the travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.
It is noted that the French hotel, which received the highest rating, was built in 1936 on the Mediterranean coast in Saint-Tropez. La Résidence de la Pinède, as it was then called, was an elegant, simple house by the sea. In 2019, it was acquired by the French company LVMH, known for the production of luxury goods, and renamed Cheval Blanc St-Tropez. Now the mansion wows visitors with an elegant interior designed by famed designer Jean-Michel Wilmotte.
Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena, located in the building of a former 17th-century monastery in Cartagena, Colombia, took the second line in the ranking. “The hotel very elegantly combines elements of the past (exposed wooden ceilings, beautiful arched passages) with modernity,” the authors of the material wrote. Rooms are decorated in a modern or colonial style. It offers views of the Caribbean Sea and the Old City.
The third place was occupied by the American The Driskill – a Texas five-star hotel that conquered travelers with an “authentic and cozy” atmosphere with worn leather sofas, cowhide chairs, and pistols from the Civil War hanging on the walls.
The best hotels also included hotels in Turkey, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Great Britain, India, and Peru. The list of accommodation facilities includes a variety of hotels – from modern city apartments to “shamelessly regal” private residences.
It is clarified that the rating was compiled based on millions of reviews and opinions of tourists on the Condé Nast Traveler website.
