Austrian Chancellor Karl Nechamer said that his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin today was difficult, according to Reuters.
This is the first meeting between Putin and the leader of the European Union since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“This is not a friendly meeting,” Nehamer said in a statement issued by his office. In it, he reiterated that he hoped to help end the war or improve the living conditions of the civilian population. “The conversation with President Putin was very direct, open and difficult,” Nehamer said.
