Five people were killed at Kabul airport after trying to break into planes

At least five people were killed at Kabul airport after hundreds of people tried to break into planes taking off from the Afghan capital, Reuters reported, citing eyewitnesses.

World media report that the airport is in real chaos due to mass attempts by Afghans to leave the country. Earlier, passenger flights from the capital’s airport were suspended.

According to an eyewitness, he saw the bodies of five people taken away by car. Another eyewitness said it was unclear whether the victims were shot or simply trampled, BTA reports.

U.S. troops controlling the airport had previously fired into the air to disperse the crowd, a U.S. spokesman said.

There are no official comments on the incident yet.
