White House says social media platforms should not distribute “unreliable” content

US President Joe Biden believes that social networking platforms are responsible for “stopping the distribution of unreliable content,” the White House said Wednesday, even declining to comment directly on Facebook Inc.’s decision to suspend former President Donald Trump.

“According to the president, the main platforms are responsible for the health and safety of all Americans for stopping the spread of inaccurate content, disinformation and misinformation, especially related to COVID-19, vaccinations and elections,” White House spokeswoman Jen told reporters.
