Which professions will disappear the fastest in this decade?
With the rapid development of new technologies, the labor market is changing. If in the 19th century a huge part of the people were employed in agriculture, then today this also applies to other sectors, such as trade or transport. In the coming years, changes will continue as some professions disappear in favor of others.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that 11.9 million jobs will be created in the United States between 2020 and 2030. However, at the same time, many jobs will disappear. Here are the fastest disappearing professions in this decade, according to the bureau’s forecast:
The largest decline in employment is observed in the printing industry. Over the current decade, the number of jobs in this area in the United States will decline by 16 300. In percentage terms, employment will decline by 36%.
Workers overseeing the proper maintenance of cities and correct parking will be reduced by 35%, and the number of operators of nuclear power plants by almost 33%.
Right behind them are milling cutters, turners and locksmiths. In this group, the decline in employment over this decade will be almost 30 percent.
The top 10 fastest-disappearing jobs will also include telephone operators, watchmakers, door-to-door vendors, data entry specialists and shoemakers.
Eight of the top 20 in this category will be related to administrative and office activities. There will also be a reduction in the production of goods, services and sales, but on a smaller scale.
In all cases, automation will be the main reason for the disappearance of these jobs.
