The UN is sending a team of human rights experts to Bucha

The UN intends to send a group of human rights experts to investigate the killings of civilians in the Ukrainian city of Bucha, according to DPA, citing a representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva.

The UN group of 50 people is stationed in the western Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod, about 800 km from Kyiv and the suburbs of Bucha. The release date of the team has not been announced.

The commission of inquiry, which consists of independent lawyers, is also investigating what happened in Bucha, said Liz Trosel, a spokeswoman for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. The commission is tasked with gathering evidence of possible war crimes for the UN Human Rights Council.

The International Organization for Migration reports that the war in Ukraine has displaced more than 7.1 million people. She added that this is 10% more than the number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine compared to the first stage of the March 16 poll.
