UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for a ceasefire in Ukraine on the eve of the Resurrection of Christ, NOVA reports.
“Easter should be a moment of unity to save lives and promote dialogue to end suffering in Ukraine,” said the UN Secretary-General, calling for a four-day humanitarian pause on Holy Week, which begins on Holy Thursday and lasts until Easter, April 24. to enable the opening of a number of humanitarian corridors
“Instead of celebrating a new life, this Easter coincides with Russia’s offensive in eastern Ukraine. The intense concentration of forces and firepower inevitably makes this battle more brutal, bloody and destructive. The offensive and horrific civilian casualties we have seen so far are dim with the horror that awaits us ahead. This cannot be allowed,” Guterres added.
