UN Secretary-General António Guterres will visit Kyiv on Thursday, April 28, and meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Before that, he will travel to Moscow for an interview with Vladimir Putin.
In Kyiv, Guterres will also have a working conversation with the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, Dmitry Kuleba. The Portuguese will also visit staff from UN agencies who will present him with the humanitarian situation.
Earlier conversation with Putin
Two days earlier, on Tuesday, April 26, António Guterres will be in Moscow. There he will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and President Vladimir Putin.
The talks were initiated by the head of the UN, who sent letters to both capitals asking for a meeting with the leaders. The office of António Guterres said that negotiations with Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky are about the possibility of achieving a peaceful end to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
