Tourists have been warned about transport problems that could spoil their holiday in Spain

Tourists planning to travel to Spain’s Canary Islands in October 2023 have been warned of the possibility of “significant travel disruption”.

As Express writes, mass transport workers’ strikes are planned for October on the islands of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura. The protests began at midnight on October 2 and will continue for a month unless a compromise solution is reached between workers and employers.

In total, strikes in the mentioned Canary Islands are scheduled for 12 dates during October 2023:

  • October 2
  • October 4
  • October 7
  • October 9
  • October 11
  • October 14
  • October 16
  • October 18
  • October 21st
  • October 23
  • October 25
  • October 28

Travelers with holiday plans to the above islands on these dates were urged to contact their tour operator or transport company as soon as possible for more information and to understand how this strike may affect their plans.

In particular, tourists are recommended to clarify how transport connections between airports and cities will work on the days of the strike because among others, bus operators will also participate in it.
