A foreign tourist booked accommodation without reviews, and when he arrived at the place, he was shocked – his room turned out to be an ordinary combined bathroom but with a bed. The incident happened in London. The British newspaper Daily Mail drew attention to this case.
According to the publication, an associate professor from the University of California in the USA made a reservation through the Airbnb service. At the time of choosing the number, there were no reviews about it. However, upon arriving at the specified address, he discovered that his room was a bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower in addition to the bed. At the same time, prudent landlords installed a glass partition between the bed and the toilet to prevent urine from getting on the bed linen. Towels were also neatly laid out on the bed.
In a message on the social network, the tourist described his disappointment as follows: “Imagine arriving at a room booked through Airbnb and realizing that the entire room is, in fact, an ordinary bathroom with a bed installed in it.” He also posted pictures to back up his words.
The outraged traveler contacted Airbnb support to complain about the accommodation. The representatives of the service promised to “carefully study” this problem, but there was no concrete solution. “I have contacted customer service several times and every customer service attorney I have spoken to has had no interest in helping to resolve the issue. Can I expect a different result this time? – The tourist exploded with the next angry post.
Users on social networks actively discussed this funny situation. They expressed their opinions and joked about the event. One commenter joked that the room had everything you needed “at arm’s length.” Another wrote a humorous comment about having to raise the toilet seat to use it as a bedside table. A third commenter stated that the room essentially “looks like his London flat”.
An Airbnb spokesperson later commented on what happened in a press interview: “Our customer service team contacted this guest to provide support. We encourage visitors to review all photos, as well as descriptions and reviews, before booking a stay.”
It should be noted that the American tourist himself claimed that there were no reviews of the room at the time of booking, while the question of whether he viewed photos of this specific accommodation at the time of booking or was guided only by location and price remained unanswered.
