An Israeli passenger started a small fire on an El Al flight from Tel Aviv to Bangkok.
A passenger addicted to nicotine couldn’t resist smoking in an airplane bathroom. He tried to throw his cigarette into the trash, despite warnings from the crew not to smoke on board, much less tossing a cigarette butt in the trash.
The fire started when a burning cigarette butt ignited toilet paper and tissues inside a trash can, triggering a smoke alarm.
According to the airline, the fire was immediately extinguished with fire extinguishers.
Since there were no injuries on board, the airline decided not to involve the local police in this case.
