The nightmare of two years ago is returning to the resorts of Turkey: huge forest fires are burning again around the famous resort of Marmaris. Airplanes and helicopters were involved in extinguishing. At the same time, according to reports on social networks, tourists vacationing in Marmaris have already started sharing footage of burning forests.
According to available information, forest fires broke out on Friday on the outskirts of the Marmaris resort. More than 20 fire trucks, as well as 4 helicopters and 5 airplanes, are extinguishing the fire. At the same time, pictures of burning forests are posted on social networks by tourists, that is, the fire is already within the visibility of tourist areas.
We will remind you that in 2021, forest fires “haunted” Turkey throughout the end of the season, starting from the end of June. At that time, Turkey experienced more than 140 forest fires, mainly in resorts, burning both Antalya – where the main impact fell on Manavgat, and the resorts of Mugla province – Bodrum, Fethiye, and Marmaris, which was then recognized as one of the most affected areas, reporting that two-thirds of forests in Marmaris were destroyed as a result of fires.
Tourists in Marmaris had to experience scary adventures – burning palm trees on the hotel grounds, evacuation to the lawn, ash-burning towels – such details were told by a tourist from the town of Icmeler near Marmaris, which was the main blow of the fiery element.
And now the fiery element came again to the resorts of Turkey. This time — almost at the beginning of the season.
