The Egyptian Minister of Tourism promised tourists new surprises

“2022 will be full of surprises,” Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anani promised tourists. First of all, this will apply to sightseeing Egypt, which is waiting for many major international projects, but will not be forgotten and hotels and other details of the tourism industry.

“In 2022, Egypt will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the tomb of King Tutankhamun, the 200th anniversary of the decipherment of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and the emergence of Egyptology as a scientific field. In addition, on the date 22.02.2022, which is unlikely to be repeated, we will offer tourists an exciting celebration at the temple of Abu Simbel in Aswan in honor of the equinox. In addition, in 2022 the Galala project, the city of Al-Alamein and the Great Transfiguration project in St. Catherine will be completed, as well as the opening of the Sphinx Airport, which will change the tourist map and allow to receive or land charter flights in the center capital for the first time, so tourists can visit the Great Egyptian Museum (GEM) in about 20 minutes, and the pyramids – in about five minutes, “- said the Egyptian minister. Other museums and other projects are also expected to open.

The Minister also stressed that since the opening of the inbound international tourist movement in July 2020, “we are recording an increase in the number of tourists per month.” “During the Egyptian pandemic, we managed not only to resume tourism, but also to resume inbound tourism from Russia and the UK after it was stopped, and we are going to add new big tourism markets during 2022. Thus, at the moment we are not in the phase of setting records, “said the Egyptian Minister of Tourism.

At the same time, he warned tourists about the situation with prices – yes, the prices for entrance tickets to museums and archeological monuments, which have been postponed since the beginning of the pandemic, will be slightly increased. However, the Minister stressed that this is a “reasonable price” and it is “within the plan we planned more than 3-4 years ago.”

He also reminded that according to the decree on setting minimum prices for accommodation, the minimum price for accommodation per person per day will be increased only in South Sinai and the Red Sea, and prices will be as follows: 5-star, 4-star and 3-star hotels will cost $ 50, $ 40 and $ 30 respectively. Prices for hotels in Luxor, Aswan and Tabe will increase only until early November.
