In the last month of last summer, the Dominican Republic received more tourists than in the same period of the successful 2019. The obtained indicators became a record for August in the history of tourism in the country. Ukrainian tourism, for obvious reasons, cannot yet boast of success.
The Dominican Republic broke the pre-pandemic record
In August 2022, 716,645 foreign tourists arrived in the Dominican Republic (the figures also include 94,792 cruise passengers). The values exceeded the data of August 2019 by more than 200 thousand people and became the best for this month in the history of tourism in the country. Last year, it broke the historical high of September.
This is evidenced by the respective statements of the country’s president, Luis Abinader, and the minister of tourism, David Collado.
In just 8 months of the current year, 5 million 655 thousand 980 non-residents (including citizens of the country permanently living abroad) arrived in the country. Such data allow us to say that the tourist flow at the end of 2022 has every chance of exceeding the value of 2019 when the Dominican Republic received almost 6.5 million non-residents.
The inspiring results allowed the Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic to state: “The Dominican tourism industry is experiencing its best moments.” We will remind you that the country canceled all restrictions on entry for foreign tourists and returned the recreation conditions to the pre-pandemic conditions inside the country.
