The cruise liner broke down at sea: there is no electricity, the windows are broken, 266 tourists are in shock

A cruise liner en route from Norway to Great Britain broke down due to a strong storm and an onslaught of waves in the North Sea. The glass in the captain’s cabin was broken, and the ship was left without electricity – the consequences frightened 266 tourists.
The incident occurred when the MS Maud, owned by Hurtigruten Group and operated by HX Cruise Line, lost its ability to navigate due to bad weather, British and Norwegian media reported. However, fortunately, no one was hurt. According to representatives of the company and the Danish authorities, despite the power outage and non-working navigation systems, the ship is in stable condition, and there is no threat to people’s lives on board.
“The ship’s electricity is turned off, and the navigation systems and radars are not working, but the main engine is working,” the newspaper quoted the representatives as saying. By the time of the incident, the liner was almost in the middle of the North Sea, about 200 kilometers off the west coast of Denmark, and was scheduled to arrive in the UK on Friday. There were 397 people on board: 266 tourists and 131 crew members.
It was clarified that a tugboat went to the scene to assist the vessel. According to Reuters, after a power outage, the ship was towed to Bremerhaven, Germany. Hurtigruten company representatives issued a statement in which they linked the incident to the “killer wave” and emphasized that the situation on board had been stable all this time.
