Tourists in Spanish resorts are being urged to wear masks – so far voluntarily and only in public – as cases of the coronavirus continue to rise.
Some are already afraid that there will be a return of lockdowns according to the old scheme – first masks, then restrictions on visiting public places, then their complete closure, as was the case 2 years ago after the emergence of Covid-19.

Currently, Spanish health officials are urging tourists to wear masks while on vacation in the Balearic Islands. The number of cases in Mallorca, Ibiza, and Menorca has increased – they remind us that the new strain of the coronavirus is milder but more contagious than previous incarnations of the virus, they say.
Health officials also warned that it is still life-threatening. As a result, calls for tourists to wear masks in public spaces are being published again.
At the same time, masks are mandatory in public transport – this rule has not been removed. Patricia Gómez, the Minister of Health of the Balearic Islands, said in an interview with local media that she would like to avoid adding restrictions. However, she urged people to act sensibly and wear a mask in a crowd – for example, at a concert.
Earlier, DIP reported that in Spain, a rule of “six drinks per day” was introduced for all-inclusive resorts.
