Passenger train collides with a freight train in Greece: 32 dead

According to the ERT TV channel, in Greece last night there was a collision of freight and passenger trains. As a result, 32 people were killed, and 85 people were injured.

The Athens-Thessaloniki train left at 19:22 with 350 passengers on board.

The accident occurred at the Evangelismos station near the city of Larisa (200 km northwest of Athens). After the collision, a fire broke out, three cars derailed and turned over, and passengers were blocked in them.

150 people are involved in the rescue operation, and 40 ambulances arrived at the scene.

At the moment, out of 85 victims who were hospitalized, 53 remain in hospitals.

The reasons and circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
