Nudists at a popular resort went into battle against the authorities, establishing their own rules

Scandals with nudists are “spreading” to the Mediterranean – this time lovers of sunbathing in what the mother gave birth to went into battle against the authorities, establishing their order on the popular Greek resort – the island of Gavdos near Crete. However, local authorities are preparing actions in response.

The reason for the scandal, however, was the first step of the local authorities, which installed “no nudity” signs on the island. Next, nudists who liked the beaches of the island were outraged by this sign and demonstratively undressed and then began to remove these signs.

The fact is that the island has become one of the centers of attraction for nudists in the Aegean Sea – lovers of sunbathing and naked swimming gather here on wild beaches by the thousands every year. “We have come to touch nature and purify ourselves, how can we accept this ban?” – they are outraged on social networks.

However, the patience of local authorities is running out. As the mayor of the island, Lilian Stefanaki, said, they will not back down and will restore the signs. “Signs installed by the municipality of Gavdos have been removed again by unknown persons. We took the necessary legal action to protect public property and installed new signs. Our struggle will continue,” she said.

We will remind you that earlier nudists made a scandal on the beaches of Catalonia. There, naked tourists are ashamed of clothed ones and have started a fight with them, although, for the last 70 years, everything has been the other way around. The truth is that we are talking about “our” beaches, that is, nudist beaches.

As the Express explains, in general, there are no laws against nudism in Spain, and naturists can expose themselves on any of the country’s beaches. However, the tradition is that they mostly prefer “wild” beaches and will sunbathe there in their company. However, in the last summer season, “traditional” tourists flocked to the “wild” beaches in large numbers, and the influx of clothed people on traditionally naturist beaches made some nudists feel “uncomfortable”. As a result, nudists in Spain started a campaign against discrimination.
