Millions of dollars worth of gold were stolen from a vault at the Toronto airport (Canada), reports DW.
According to Regional Police Inspector Steven Dyvestein, the cargo, worth about $15 million, went missing after it was unloaded from the plane.
“Upon arrival, this valuable cargo was illegally removed from the vault,” Duyvestein said, assuring that it was a “rare case.”
According to Canadian media, the stolen gold bars are the property of a large bank – Toronto-Dominion Bank.
Law enforcers believe that a daring theft was organized by criminal gangs. Some publications at the same time claim that employees of one of the airlines are involved in the case.
