Khamsin came ahead of schedule: nature hit the main resort of Egypt, tourists were warned about the danger

Strong wind, dusty storms and waves on the sea: Hurghada, the main resort of Egypt, was struck by nature. Meteorologists announced that the hamsin had arrived ahead of schedule, a wind from the deserts of North Africa. Tourists were warned about the danger.

“In Hurghada, the wind speed reaches 29 kilometers per hour, the temperature drops from 27 degrees during the day to 14 degrees at night, and the wave height is from one and a half to two meters,” the Meteorological Department said in a statement. Tourists and drivers were warned, in particular, about reduced visibility on the roads due to strong wind and dust. A special risk is on the highway in the Red Sea province.

According to forecasts of forecasters, next week the resort will get slightly colder – up to +23°C during the day, while at the moment the temperature is around +27-28 degrees. At the same time, the weather is generally clear, one or two cloudy days are promised, but the wind makes its adjustments.

REFERENCE: Khamsin is a strong wind that occurs in the fronts of cyclones moving from the deserts of North Africa. The wind usually arrives at the vernal equinox and “sets the weather” in Egypt, as well as in Middle Eastern countries such as Israel. However, in some cases, the wind may start in February and end closer to June. At the same time, since the wind comes from deserts, it is usually saturated with sand and dust, which “falls” on all the regions where it comes.
