German tourists, mostly of Turkish origin, as well as tourists from other European and Arab countries, filled the “tourism gap” in at least one tourist region of Turkey. This was stated by Kafer Dumlupinar, president of the Platform of the Manavgat Merchants’ Union.
“Occupancy of hotels in our region is 99%. The main load is provided by expatriates (that is, citizens of Turkey who are temporarily or permanently outside the country), who live in Germany and European countries, as well as citizens of Arab countries,” he said.
The expert also added that the number of tourists “makes local traders smile”, although expatriates and citizens of Arab countries bargain very hard when buying products. The reason is simple: “In our region, we reduced the failure caused by the decline in the number of Ukrainian and Russian tourists by German and European tourists,” Dumlupynar said.
