The “war for sunbeds” in European resorts has reached an extreme phase – desperate tourists arrange a “night watch”, occupying sunbeds with towels already in the evening, instead of as before – from 6 in the morning. And some originals very inventively take revenge on lovers who leave a towel on a sunbed, taking up space in this way: “sugar diversions” have started. Hotel owners also have to take emergency measures.
Another video about “wars for sunbeds” was published on TikTok: according to it, tourists have already moved from morning runs to “night watch”. “It’s eight in the evening,” says the commentator, showing the hotel pool surrounded by empty sunbeds on the video, “as you can see, everyone has already put down their beach towels to occupy the sunbeds the next day.”
A lot of indignant comments appeared under the video. The fight for a place under the sun has begun to catch up with tourists. Some commentators voice the usual “form of protest” against occupied deck chairs, i.e.: “It doesn’t matter at all, if there’s no one here, I’ll just throw down this towel and sit down.” There were also more vindictive and original ideas of punishment: “My friends went to the pool early in the morning, wet towels and poured sugar on them. The towels were covered with ants and other insects.
As a result, to avoid property damage and loud scandals, some hotel owners in European resorts had to take measures. Some ask tourists to reserve sunbeds in advance, which are “fixed” to the tourist for the entire time of rest. Some hotels already officially warn that the local employees have the right to remove the towel if no one uses the sunbed for a certain period.
We will remind you that this summer a lot of videos appeared on social networks, about how foreigners in the resorts of Spain, Italy, and Greece organize morning runs to sunbeds with towels in preference. The main fans of this “sport” were the British and the French. Numerous footage shows tourists running out of the hotel each morning with towels, knocking each other off their feet to try and get the best spots by the pool. One user superimposed a sax version of Benny Hill’s Yakety over his video to emphasize the comical moment and captioned his video: “Crazies knocking each other off their feet to get to the couch.” Read the details in link.
Earlier, DIP reported that tourists in Europe were threatened with fines for grabbing sunbeds with towels and sleeping near the sea, read more here.
