Greece Clarifies New Country Entry Rules With COVID-19 Recovery Certificates

The Greek authorities have clarified the new rules related to the restoration certificate after announcing a reduction in the validity period of this document from 180 days to 90 days.

According to the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, starting this week, the restoration certificates are valid for 90 days.

Moreover, persons holding such a document, issued from July 15 to November 30, will be allowed to continue to use their documents until their expiration date.

The latest NOTAM for domestic flights to the Hellenic Republic also reminds travelers to carry a vaccination or convalescence certificate if issued thirty (30) days after testing positive for COVID-19.

This decision will affect travelers from 42 of the following countries:

All passengers arriving in Greece must present one of the following documents in order to obtain permission to enter the country:

  • Vaccination certificate confirming that 14 days have passed since the date of full vaccination against COVID-19 with doses approved by the Greek health authorities.
  • A certificate of recovery confirming that the passenger was positive for COVID-19 at least 30 days before, and the document is valid for 90 days after it was issued.
  • PCR test taken 72 hours before departure, or express test taken 48 hours before flight.
  • Holders of the EU digital certificate COVID-19

For children from four to 17 years old, it is necessary to pass a self-test, which is provided by the state. The face closure requirement applies to all passengers on board.

Foreigners submitting one of these documents must have a translation into Greek, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian or Russian, and the competent government authority must issue a certificate.

World Health Organization (WHO) data show that 36,656 positive cases and 653 deaths related to COVID-19 have been confirmed in the past seven days, bringing the number of coronavirus deaths to 19,248.

In addition, data from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) show that vaccinations are in progress in Greece: 18.3 percent of the population received the third vaccine, while 67 percent received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 62.8 received both. vaccinations.
