Egypt reduces the cost of PCR tests for tourists

The Egyptian government has announced a price cut for PCR and antigen rapid tests for coronavirus for citizens and foreigners.

According to this decision, PCR tests for Egyptians will cost 650 EGP (1150 UAH) instead of 900 EGP (1600 UAH), and PCR tests for foreigners will cost 750 EGP (1350 UAH) instead of 1200 EGP (2150 UAH).

Rapid antigen tests for Egyptians and foreigners will cost EGP 175 (UAH 300) and EGP 225 (UAH 400), respectively, instead of EGP 250 (UAH 450) and EGP 320 (UAH 575).

Egypt has been battling a fourth wave of coronavirus for months now amid a surge in coronavirus cases due to the spread of the Omicron coronavirus, which health officials have said has become the dominant strain in Egypt.

Egypt has received all types of coronavirus vaccines, and also approved the emergency use of Merck’s coronavirus drug molnupiravir and allowed five companies to produce the drug locally.
