The Thai Meteorological Service announced that a dangerous situation has developed in several regions of the country as a result of a sharp cooling. A cold front came from China on December 18th.

According to Thai media, all boat traffic was suspended in Surat Thani yesterday and today due to high waves and rough seas from the mainland to the islands of Koh Samui, Tao, and Koh Phangan, which are considered popular tourist destinations. Due to the floods, the railway connection with the south of Thailand was interrupted.

As a result of a storm in the Gulf of Thailand, 20 miles from the coast, in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan, on the night of December 19, a ship of the Thai Navy sank. About three dozen sailors out of 106 crew members are believed to have drowned and search and rescue operations continue.

The Andaman Sea also has waves of up to 4 meters or more, which has stopped the movement of ships in the coastal zone. Heavy rains hit Phuket and Krabi provinces.

In the central and northern regions of the country, the air temperature dropped by 6-8 degrees, and frosts are possible in the highlands. According to the latest weather forecast from the Department of Meteorology, temperatures in and around Bangkok could drop to 14°C.

In Pattaya, on the second day, gusty winds up to 15 m/s. Despite this, vacationers did not leave the city’s beaches. Partly cloudy and lower temperatures only slightly cooled sunbathers. And small waves made it possible to swim quite comfortably today, according to vacationers.

Forecasters expect changes in weather conditions after December 20.
