Argentina has introduced a tax for tourists leaving the country

Argentina has introduced a tax for tourists leaving the country, Dip.org.ua reports.

The Argentine authorities have introduced a new tax on the dollar at 25 percent for Argentines traveling abroad.

As the newspaper notes, there are several parallel exchange rates for the dollar in Argentina. There is an official one (a dollar for 157 pesos), and there is a rate on the “black” market (a dollar for 289 pesos), for the stock market, for agriculture, and for paying for the services of Internet platforms. There is also a course for Argentine tourists who like to travel abroad. They will make them spend extra.

As a result, plane tickets and excursions abroad, for which Argentines will pay with bank cards, will cost them about 314 pesos per dollar, which is twice the official rate.

It’s hard to say yet whether the new tax will keep Argentine, passionate football fans, from traveling to the World Cup in Qatar.
