Another country decided to close its border with Russia

Another country has decided to close its border with Russia: Estonia plans to follow Finland’s example and block its border with Russia. As experts assure, everything will develop according to the same scheme: closing the border due to the delivery of “illegal migrants” from various Third World countries, all the way to Somalia to the borders of the EU, and “temporarily” closing the checkpoint for any movements.

At the border of Estonia with Russia, five border crossing points are open for international traffic, three of which are located in Narva. Accusations of illegal migration are already being heard: according to Estonian Director General of the Department of Police and Border Guard Egert Belichev, only on the night of Thursday, November 16, a total of 19 citizens of Somalia and Syria tried to enter the country. “They wanted to enter the EU through Estonia. But since they had no legal grounds, they were sent back to Russia,” explained Belichov. He accused the Russians of allowing these migrants to approach the Estonian border, although they knew that they did not have the right to enter the European Union.

As Mr. Belichov added, he is in constant contact with colleagues from Finland, where a similar closure, let’s remind, has already partially taken place. By February, four of the busiest border crossings, Nuiyamaa, Nierala, Imatra, and Valimaa, were closed. Read details here.

According to an Estonian official, the closure of Finnish border crossings may lead to increased migratory pressure on the Estonian border. “We are monitoring the situation, we are ready to react, we are ready to take our steps if the need arises,” said Belichev, in particular, Estonia is ready to completely close the checkpoint on the border with Russia.

The Estonian Minister of Internal Affairs, Lauri Läenemets, was the second number to make accusations against Moscow. “In recent years, we have seen the organized pressure of refugees on the borders of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia,” said the Estonian minister. He assured that Moscow has already started this operation. And he also confirmed plans to close the checkpoint.
