Airport controller in India was suspended for a mistake that almost led to a disaster

On August 23, two Vistara planes nearly collided at Delhi Airport. The dispatcher, through whose fault a disaster almost happened, was suspended from work.

According to the channel, an Airbus A320 Neo flying from Delhi to Bagdogra has been cleared to take off from runway 29R. A few minutes earlier, another aircraft from Ahmedabad landing on runway 29L was cleared to cross runway 29R to taxi to the terminal.

The accident was avoided thanks to the vigilance of the pilot, who noticed that with such a maneuver there was a high probability of a collision with another side, and informed the dispatcher about this. After that, takeoff was canceled for the plane flying to Bagdogra. The flight was delayed by as much as four hours.

“The Civil Aviation Authority of India has ordered an investigation into the incident and the controller has been suspended,” a spokesman for the Indian Civil Aviation Ministry said.
