On the night of January 26, an armed Thai man opened fire at the B-Lay Tong Phuket Resort on the resort island of Phuket. A foreign tourist was hit by a bullet. It is unknown whether he was Ukrainian. The incident was reported by Thai media.
Patong police were notified of the shooting at 1:50 p.m. It was specified that a foreign tourist invaded the hotel and “caused chaos.” At that time, a 54-year-old Thai citizen was nearby. When the men clashed face to face, the Thai man fired twice.
Police did not disclose any additional details of the shooting or arrest, only that the initiator of the shooting was detained by police outside the hotel two hours later. A 9-millimeter semi-automatic pistol and ammunition were found in his possession. The attacker was charged with “attempted murder” and “carrying a firearm in a city, village or public place without good reason.”
The state of health of the victim was not reported.
