Google accused two Russians of infecting more than a million computers

Компанія знає імена тільки російських громадян Дмитра Старовикова та Олександра Філіппова, ще 15 підозрюваних залишаються невідомими

Google has filed a lawsuit against 17 people, including two Russian citizens, who, according to the corporation, created the data-stealing botnet Glupteba. The company announced this in its blog.

The lawsuit states that cybercriminals infiltrated more than one million computers and other devices to create a “Glupteba botnet – for illegal use, including theft and unauthorized use of Google user credentials.”

The company only knows the names of Russian citizens Dmitry Starovikov and Alexander Filippov, the remaining 15 suspects remain unknown.

Glupteba was first spotted by cybersecurity experts in 2011. It is noted that computers were infected by downloading free programs on websites. As a result, the virus has infiltrated over 1 million devices worldwide.
